It looks like Tata Safari Storme is getting ready for a facelift in the country. A new prototype of Safari Storme, which is believed to be the updated version, has been caught undergoing testing.
Snapped by the folks at Team BHP, the test mule of Safari Storme is seen in its undisguised avatar, throwing out a clear picture of the changes made to the existing version. From the images, what is immediately apparent is the change in the front grille.
Besides this, the facelifted Safari Storme is likely to remain identical to its current model. The words around the web indicate that the changes are most likely to be inside the cabin. The new Storme is expected to include a touchscreen infotainment system.
The power is likely to come from the 2.2-litre four-cylinder VariCOR diesel engine, may be with minor tweaks to generate more power. The current model has the capacity to produce 138 bhp of power.
New Safari Storme is likely to reach showrooms by mid-2015.
In 2015, Tata is also expected to launch a new hatchback Kite, which is also on the roads for testing. Kite is expected to get power from the company's new 1.05 litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor, which can churn out power of 64.1bhp and 14.27kgm of torque, and the all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine.
Rumours also indicate five speed manual gearboxes and an automated manual transmission (AMT).
