A test mule of Tata's Kite-based compact sedan has been spotted undergoing tests in the country, giving a clear idea of the upcoming sedan's overall size and body proportions.

Caught on camera by Indian Car Bikes, the heavily camouflaged prototype of Tata Kite sedan shows the side and rear profiles. From the images, Kite, the sub-four meter sedan of Tata, seems to have ditched the conventional styling of Indica as the prototype of the car hints newly styled rear profiles.

Under the hood, the petrol model of the Tata Kite sedan is expected to get power from the 1.2l Revotron engine and the diesel is likely to be powered by 1.05 liter-3 cylinder turbo diesels. As for transmission, the Kite sedan is expected to get automatic and manual gearbox and we also hear that the company could introduce Bosch's e-clutch system, which is similar to AMT. E-Clutch allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch.

Expected to be priced lower than Tata Zest in the Indian market, Kite sedan is likely to hit showrooms by the end of 2015.

Recent reports have indicated that Tata has registered names like Buck, Razzle, Haze, Woo, Zica and Sway for its upcoming new Kite twins (Kite hatchback and Kite sedan). However, it remains to be seen if any of these names will make it to the final.
