It appears Tata Motors' hatchback Kite is inching closer to its India launch by the end of this year if emerging reports on the Internet are any indication.

Tata Kite, one of the Kite twins which is getting ready to join the hatchback bandwagon, has been on roads for testing for quite a while now. Numerous spy shots of the hatchback have emerged online in the past and once again, folks at Motoroids have managed to click yet another prototype of the model undergoing testing.

Although the repeated sightings of the car being tested in the country are signs of the imminent launch of the Kite, Tata Motors is maintaining a studied silence. However, rumour mills suggest the car would make its India entry by the end of this year.

Judging by the latest spy shots, there is nothing new one can discern, since the test mule is seen carefully camouflaged. However, it is not difficult to figure out the overall body proportion. At the rear, the Tata Kite seems to have a new overhauled bumper design with fog light and rear mounted spoiler.

It was reported recently that the Kite has entered its pre-production stage in the country. Under the hood, Tata Kite hatchback is likely to get the company's new 1.05-litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that can churn out a power of 64.1bhp and 14.27kgm of torque and an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. The Kite is speculated to get e-clutch system similar to AMT, which allows drivers to use manual transmission for the first gear without using the clutch.

When launched in India, the Kite will take on the likes of Maruti Celerio and Hyundai Grand i10 and is expected to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh.
