The real fireworks at the box office kick-started with Pongal. The release of Vikram's "I", Vishal Krishna's "Aambala" and GV Prakash's "Darling" pulled the audience to theatres in huge numbers during the festive season. While all three movies got good openings, it was Shankar's film, despite getting mixed reviews, that did earth-shattering business in India and abroad.

The month of February was an exciting time for cine-goers with the release of Ajith's "Yennai Arindhaal". The movie was released to huge expectations and the Gautham Menon directorial emerged as the big winner of the month. Dhanush's "Anegan" and Sivakarthikeyan's "Kaaki Sattai" are the other big films, which created buzz at the collection centres.

In March, no A-list star's films were released and the theatres were dominated by small-budget films. Saravanan's "Valiyavan" starring Jai and Andrea got a decent start by the end of the month.
