Suzuki Recalls 2 Million Cars Globally Over Faulty Ignition Switch

Japanese auto Major Suzuki has recalled over 2 million cars globally to fix a problem with the ignition switch.

Reuters reported that Suzuki has issued a global recall of 2 million models following the complaints of ignition switch emitting smoke. The recall will affect the Swift, Alto, Chevy Cruze models in the countries like Australia and Europe, which were manufactured between 1998 and 2009 along with Chevrolet Cruze Suzuki builds for General Motors, the AZ-Wagon and Carol sold under the Mazda brand in Japan.

While in Japan, a total of 1,873,000 models have been recalled, Australia and Europe will cover 133,700. Going by the reports, there were 67 cases of ignition switch default in Japan and no injuries or accidents due to the same have been reported so far.

Earlier in March, Maruti Suzuki India had recalled as many as 33,098 units of its Altos to inspect and replace the right hand door latch assembly. The company recalled 19,780 units of Alto 800 and 13,318 units of Alto K10, which were manufactured between 8 December 2014 and 18 February 2015.

Recently, Nissan Motor and BMW AG also recalled 165,000 vehicles globally over a faulty fuel pump.
