"Supernatural" is steadily getting immersed in Darkness as Season 11 progresses, and we have learned that from angels to demons, every being on earth, alive and undead are fearful. In Episode 4 "Baby", we saw an elder Nachzehrer create his personal army to fight Amara (Yasmeene Ball/Emily Swallow).
The Winchesters are once again held responsible for fixing heavenly matters, and at least one of them is looking at God for help. In Episode 1 "Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire", we saw Sam (Jared Padalecki) get infected by some sort of virus that starts spreading after Darkness is released into the world, and ask God to give him a sign.
He received it in the form of painful visions, and in "Baby", he once again saw a realistic dream wherein a young version of his father tells him it is up to him and Dean (Jensen Ackles) to defeat Darkness. His father also tells Sam "God helps those who help themselves", and the younger Winchester takes that as a positive sign from God.
However, his brother, who according to Amara's prophecy will always protect her, believes they only have each other to defeat Darkness. He promises his younger brother they will find a way, like they always do. Now that Cas (Misha Collins) is cured of Rowena's (Ruth Connell) curse, they have at least one angel still on their side.
However, fans do have reasons to expect the return of Chuck aka God (Rob Benedict). In "Baby", the "Then" bit of the episode consisted of Chuck's narration from the Season 5 finale episode "Swan Song". Granted, both episodes were focused on Dean's Baby aka the Imapala, but it would be delusional of fans to ignore the fact that this has no connection to bringing him back, especially because Sam and Dean are talking so much about God, and how he was never there when they needed him in the past.
Chuck's reappearance would prove he was in fact there when the Winchester brothers needed guidance, especially with the end of the world and giving their bodies to Lucifer and Michael.
They would need his help fast, as well, because Amara is growing at a very fast pace at Crowley's (Mark Sheppard) castle, and reportedly has something to do with the case Sam and Dean are solving in Episode 5, "Thin Lizzie".
According to the synopsis: "Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders at a local B&B that also happens to be Lizzie Borden's old home. When a local man, Len (Jared Gertner), tells them he saw a little girl around the B&B around the time of the murders, the brothers realise Amara may be responsible."
