Sony tipped to launch Xperia Z5 series in India next week: Report

Japanese consumer electronics major Sony is reportedly planning to launch the company's 2015 flagship Xperia Z5 series in India next week.

The company has begun sending out invites to media outlets for an event on 21 October in New Delhi.

"Block Your Date," reads the invitation (courtesy, BGR India), but does not give away any hint on the significance of the event. However, it is widely reported that Sony might release the new Xperia Z5 series in India, which is due for launch since the official unveiling in September.

Last month, Sony pulled the wraps off three new Xperia Z5 series -- a premium model, a regular flagship and a compact variant -- at the internationally acclaimed consumers electronics trade fair (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin) 2015.

For the uninitiated, Xperia Z5 Premium is world's first smartphone to boast 4K resolution display. It features 5.5-inch screen with a staggering pixel density of 806 ppi (pixels per inch), thus guaranteeing ultimate video viewing experience than any other smartphone in the market.

Under-the-hood, it houses Snapdragon 810 processor, backed by 3GB RAM 32GB inbuilt memory, high-capacity 3430 mAh battery to power the high-resolution display. The company claims that the phone can run for close to 2 days with single full-charge. It also boasts QuickCharge v2.0 technology as well.

The 5.2-inch based flagship Xperia Z5 model too features pretty much same internal hardware seen inside the Premium model, and the only difference is that it packs 2900 mAh battery.

On the other hand, Xperia Z5 Compact is the smaller of the above two models and comes with a couple of changes in terms of RAM (2GB) and battery capacity (2700 mAh).

All three boast state-of-art 23MP camera with Sony Exmor RS for mobile sensor, Hybrid Auto Focus 0.03 sec, 5 x Clear Image Zoom and a wide-angle 5mp snapper on the front. [Detailed camera details below]
