Ajay Devgan, who has been receiving positive responses for his latest film, "Drishyam", is currently in talks for the sequel of his 2012 release, "Son of Sardaar".  While the prequel had Sonakshi Sinha as the female lead, the makers are keen on casting another top actress in the next instalment as well.

According to reports, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif have been approached to play the female lead opposite Ajay. "Ajay, understandably, does not want to speak about the casting of "Son of Sardar 2" just yet. If Deepika and Katrina are roped in, it'll be a casting coup of sorts. Getting Deepika or Katrina at this time in the same frame as Ajay is a big deal and he wants to keep the news under wraps at the moment. He is currently neck-deep in work with the shooting of "Shivaay", but will make a formal announcement regarding "Son of Sardar 2" very soon," a source told Bollywood Life.

If either of the leading B-Town actresses gives her nod, this would be the first time the "Golmaal" series actor would share the screen space with Deepika or Katrina.

Meanwhile, Deepika has "Bajirao Mastani" along with rumoured beau Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra and "Tamasha" opposite ex-boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor up for release this year.

On the other hand, Katrina is busy promoting her film, "Phantom", opposite Saif Ali Khan, which will hit the theatres on 28 August.
