India and Nepal hold joint war training session, Surya Kiran 7

Pithoragarh, Aug 31 (ANI): India holds a 14-day-long joint-war training session, Surya Kiran-7, with the Nepali Army at Pithoragarh city of Uttarakhand. The main aim of the session was to strengthen relations between the two nations, especially the army, so as to avoid any possible conflicts. Lieutenant General of Gorkha regiment, Pithoragarh, Ashwin Kumar, said the aim of the session was that both nations learn the good acts and tackling methods from each other. The session included training on not only war situations but also on disaster management. The next joint war training session, Surya Kiran-8 will be held in Nepal.

PM Modi visits Kinkaku ji Temple, interacts with public

Kyoto, Aug 31 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi accompanied by Japanese PM Shinzo Abe on Sunday visited the Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto city of Japan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with common public outside the temple in Japan. He arrived in Japan on Saturday and was received by senior officials of the Japanese administration at the airport. Modi arrived in Japan for a five-day visit, his first major bilateral trip since taking over in May.

Omar Abdullah slams Central govt for calling him anti national

Chennai hosts colourful exhibition showcasing best of Thailand industry

The aim of the event is to promote trade and commerce between the two countries amid productive tie-ups with importers, distributors and retailers in the Indian market. The exhibition kick started on Thursday and will come to its end on Sunday. The event has been organised by Thailand Ministry of Tourism and Commerce. Visva Bharti University sexual assault case: FIR registered against 3 students

Bolpur, Aug 30 (ANI): FIR was registered against three students on Saturday in the Visva-Bharati University alleged sexual assault case. According to reports, the prestigious University has suspended three students for their alleged involvement in the case. Police has initiated probe into the incident after the complaint was lodged by the University. The shocking incident came to light when a Sikkimese student studying in the university submitted a complaint against the three students of her department and accused them of sexually harassing her. The second-year student alleged that she was stripped and her pictures were clicked by them on their mobile phones.

Mayawati slams Modi's Jan Dhan Yojna

Lucknow, Aug 30 (ANI): BSP chief Mayawati said on Saturday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's newly launched banking scheme Jan Dhan Yojna cannot help the poor of the country as law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh has worsened. Maywati said the Jan Dhan Yojna scheme has tangled rules and regulations and due to this, poor people will not receive any direct monetary benefit from this scheme. Mayawati also said the Samajwadi Party (SP) led government is ignorant of the rights of farmers, while misrule is also harming the business of sugarcane growers. PM Modi meets Japanese PM Shinzo Abe in Kyoto

Kyoto, Aug 30 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Kyoto on Saturday. PM Modi along with Abe later fed on fishes in the pond at the State Guest House in Kyoto city of Japan, which is Modi's first stoppage during his five-days visit to Japan. New Delhi, Aug 30 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that the mood of the country changed when the election results were announced. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Jaitley said that containing inflation, restarting growth and investment cycles and keeping fiscal deficit at acceptable level were priorities for the new government. Government is taking steps to improve ease of doing business, opening up significant sectors, expedite decision-making while maintaining social sector expenditure in most areas. Villagers lament loss of crop due to ceasefire violations in Kashmir

RS Pura, Aug 30 (ANI): Villagers in RS Pura district of Jammu and Kashmir lamented the damage to crop amid continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops along the international border. The incessant firing has led to damage to crop in the fields close to the border. Villagers at Abdullian, the last village on the Indian side, said that they were unable to tend to the crops. Bullet marks on buildings have restricted people to their homes. Children are unable to attend regular school as well. Another villager Sewa Ram said he has been staying in one of the many rehabilitation camps that villagers in the region have evacuated to. It has been five days since he moved with his family.

Officials rescue leopard from well in Nagpur

Nagpur, Aug 30 (ANI): A young leopard was rescued from an open farm well adjoining Mansinghdeo Wildlife Sanctuary near Khapa city in Maharashtra. The leopard is suspected to have fallen in the well while chasing its prey and was found struggling to float in the water. The forest guard and senior forest officials reached the site upon receiving the information from the field owner. The officials put a cot inside the well for the animal to cling on, which was then brought out with the help of a rope. A team of around 50 members including rescue officials, police, forest officials worked to rescue the big cat.
