The shooting of "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan", starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara, started on Wednesday. The film is scripted and directed by Vignesh Sivan of "Podaa Podi" (2012) fame.

Actor Dhanush, who is producing the project, took to Twitter to announce the shooting schedule.

He has produced films such as "3", "Velaiyilla Pattathari", "Kaaki Sattai", "Shamithabh", "Soodhadi" and "Maari" under the banner of the actor's Wunderbar Films, which is noted for nurturing fresh talents like Vijay Sethupathi, Anirudh and Durai Senthil.

Meanwhile, Nayanthara is joining hands with Dhanush, six years after "Yaaradi Nee Mohini" (2008), and this is the first time she is being part of his production.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who began his career as a background actor, later became one of the prominent faces in Kollywood. In 2012, he had three major releases - "Pizza", "Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom" and "Soodhu Kavvum" - which were commercially successful.

The film, "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan" has been making news for more than a year. The director announced the project in April 2013 as an urban flick, but there were reports of the film being shelved.

Later in November 2013, Gautham Menon announced the film as his production with Gautham Karthik and Lavanya Tripathi in the lead.

However, on Vinayaga Chathurthi, 29 August, this year, Dhanush announced the cast and crew of the film through his Twitter account.

The music will be composed by Dhanush's favourite music director and young sensation, Anirudh, who had composed for the actor's previous productions like "3", "Ethir Neechal" and "Velai Illa Pattathari".

The cinematography will be handled by George C Williams, who is known for his works in "Raja Rani" and "Kaththi"

Currently, Dhanush is shooting for "Maari" and is awaiting the release of his upcoming Hindi film "Shamithabh" and "Anegan". He had also made a cameo appearance in "Vai Raja Vai", directed by his wife, Aishwarya Dhanush.
