Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's marriage in Italy may have been the most-discussed topic of this season, but can this be at any point a reason for anyone to get offended in any possible way?

Apparently yes, if you are BJP leader Pannalal Shakya — an MLA from Guna in Madhya Pradesh.

Shakya was apparently quite irked by Virushka's decision to wed abroad, and on Tuesday (December 19) called the Indian cricket team captain "unpatriotic" for marrying the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress and splurging money in a foreign country.

In a video report by Republic TV, the BJP MLA is seen bringing up the topic and spewing venom at Virat while addressing a public rally in Pune. He said great men like Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and King Yudhisthira from Mahabharata got married in their homeland but Virat and Anushka chose to abandon their motherland and got married in Italy.

And what's was more surprising that the large crowd that had gathered at the rally was seen applauding the MLA while he was speaking on the matter.

The couple took their wedding vows as per the traditional Hindu rituals, in a ceremony attended by their close friends and family members. The ceremony took place in a luxurious hamlet-turned-villa called the Borgo Finocchieto in the Tuscan region in Milan, Italy.

The couple, who went to Rome for their honeymoon, will be hosting a reception in New Delhi for their relatives on December 21 which will be followed by a reception for industry friends and cricketers in Mumbai on December 26.

The newlyweds will most likely be shifting to their new residence in Worli, Mumbai, in December once they return from Delhi.
