The three legends of Indian cinema – Amitabh Bachchan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan – came together on stage at the 'Shamitabh' music launch to honour music legend Ilaiyaraaja on Tuesday.

Ilaiyaraaja, who is one of the finest music composers in India and predominantly works in South Indian cinema, was felicitated for completing the music of his 1,000th film.

The trio, along with Sridevi, honoured him and talked about their experiences with him.

The Big B had a conversation with Haasan and Rajinikanth about the legend music composer, where he said he has worked with a genius. Haasan said: "Raja has become a part of my life. Today I got the opportunity of hugging him. He is a bit shy. I knew that he would do his 1000th film and I am glad that his 786th film was with me."

The "Lingaa" actor talked about the great musician's transformation.

Bachchan also shared his views. "I have never dared to sing in front of him because I found it very embarrassing. Every time I used to sit in a studio separately to record... I remember one occasion while doing 'Paa', where I had to sing a song with Raja saab in front of me. I can't say how frightening it was," according to IANS.

It was a star-studded event with several legends present coming under one roof. Filmmaker R. Balakrishnan witnessed the beautiful moment with his star cast of "Shamitabh."

He said: "We are celebrating 1,000 films of Ilayaraja, but I want to clarify that "Shamitabh" is not Ilayaraja's 1,000th film. Southern director Bala's film is the 1,000th film of Ilayaraja."

Many singers, music composers and actors were present at the event. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shruti Haasan, Shreya Ghoshal, Illa Arun, Anu Malik, Boney Kapoor, Jaya Bachchan, Tabu, Gulzar and many other celebs added charm to the audio launch.

Jr. Bachchan with wife Aishwarya congratulated the team of "Shamitabh" on their brilliant music and also congratulated Ilaiyaraaja for his great achievement.

R. Balki's film will hit theatres on 6 February.
