Much-awaited Bollywood movie Dear Zindagi, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, has cleared the formalities of the censor board and received a U/A certificate without any cut or mute.

After watching the movie on Monday, officials of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded a U/A certificate without any suggestion for delete or mute. They described the movie a wholesome family entertainer. The movie is scheduled to be released in theatres around the world on 25 November.

"There is not a single cut, verbal or visual. The censors actually said it would be a crime to cut even one shot from the film. They also singled out Shah Rukh Khan as the A-list actor with the least censorial intervention required in his films," a source close to the film told Bollywood Hungama.

Dear Zindagi revolves around the story of a budding cinematographer named Kaira, who is in search of a perfect life. She happens to meet an unconventional thinker Jehangir Khan aka Jug, who helps her gain a new perspective about life. How she discovers that happiness while finding comfort in life's imperfections forms the rest of the story. Gauri Shinde has written the story and screenplay for the film.

Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan are playing the roles of Kaira and Jehangir Khan, respectively, while Ira Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Ali Zafar and Angad Bedi appear in the supporting cast. Amit Trivedi has composed music and Laxman Utekar has handled camera work for the film. Promos of the film have created a lot of curiosity about its story.

The censor board was under severe criticism for deleting important scenes and dialogues from some movies, including Udta Punjab, in the recent past. Several Bollywood filmmakers and stars openly waged a war against Pahlaj Nihalani, the current Chairman of the CBFC in India.
