Shah Rukh Khan to Play a Real-Life Character Hailing from Gujarat in 'Raees'Varinder Chawla

Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Raees" has already faced much delay owing to the packed schedule of the superstar. However, it seems like shooting for the film will begin soon as the construction of the set is going on in full swing.

The story of "Raees" dates back to the 1980s and is set in Ahmedabad. But, as a lot has changed in the city in terms of architecture and way of living, the team had to recreate certain areas of Ahmedabad in Mumbai Film City, representing decades-old lifestyle.

Some pictures of the massive set has surfaced on the internet. The team is working on minute details and ensuring that the construction work gets completed in time.

Some action sequences will reportedly be shot on the set instead of real locations, DNA reports.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh is busy shooting for Maneesh Sharma's "Fan" and will start shooting for "Raees" by mid-March.

Co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment, and directed by Rahul Dholakia, "Raees" was initially supposed to go on floors from 1 November, last year.

King Khan has allotted most of his dates to the project and has also been actively involved with the film's scripting.

The "Happy New Year" star will play the role of a Gujarati bootlegger in the flick. Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who is known for her television show "Humsafar", will be seen romancing the badshah in "Raees".

The film also features Farhan Akhtar, who will share screen space with SRK for the first time. The duo had earlier worked together in "Don" (2006) and its sequel "Don 2" (2011), in which Akhtar was the director and SRK played the lead.
