As usual, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sadhvi Prachi has once against sought to garner attention with a controversial remark saying actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have tarnished the image of India, reports said.
She said that the two Bollywood actors and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan have teamed up with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and tarnished the image of the country by their statements on intolerance.
The VHP leader, while addressing a press conference in Jamshedpur, called the campaign against intolerance a conspiracy by 'deshdrohis' (anti-nationals), who are returning awards to give a bad name to the country, PTI reported.
Prachi was referring to a group of writers, film-makers, scientists and historians who had returned their prestigious awards to protest incidents such as the mob lynching of a Muslim man in UP village of Dadri over beef-eating rumours, murder of rationalists inluding Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and MM Kalburgi, and the police's beef raid on Delhi's Kerala House.
In November, the VHP leader had called SRK a "Pakistani agent" for his comments on rising intolerance in the country and that he "should go to Pakistan."
Earlier in March, she had also targeted actor Salman Khan for "spreading a culture of violence" and had advised youngsters not to idolise the Bollywood Khans.
The VHP leader, who is an accused in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, said that Hindus never start riots, but are forced to act as some people are killing cows and hosting beef parties.
