Sivakarthikeyan has gone strength to strength at the box office. Starting with Rajini Murugan, his films have consistently done well at the collection centres and his latest flick Seema Raja has set a new bench mark in terms of opening-day business.

The early estimation coming from the trade indicates that Sivakarthikeyan's Seema Raja has got a record-breaking opening by grossing close to Rs 10 crore. It means the movie has shattered the first-day record of Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2 and has become second biggest opener in 2018 after Rajinikanth's Kaala, which grossed Rs 15.4 crore.

Despite the cancellation of early morning shows, the Tamil flick has registered fantastic occupancy in theatres in Chennai, Chengalpet and other key centres.

Released in over 525 screens in Tamil Nadu, Seema Raja was riding high on expectations and the pre-release talk was good. It reflected in the people's response to the advance booking of tickets. Unfortunately, as the exhibitors did not receive KDM (Key Delivery Message) on time, the shows were cancelled.

However, the issue was sorted out and morning shows happened as planned before. Going by the response to the advance booking, Seema Raja is registering a good opening across Tamil Nadu.

In Chennai alone, the movie is expected to gross over Rs 1 crore on the first day. Outside Tamil Nadu, the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer has opened well in Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, the film has opened to fairly positive reviews from the critics and audience. The viewers have called it a decent family entertainer which has all the ingredients of a successful commercial film.

Sivakarthikeyan's performance and period portions are the major attraction of Ponram-directorial movie, which has Samantha playing the female lead.

With a long weekend ahead, Seema Raja is expected to do well at the Tamil Nadu box office.
