Is Sarkar a flop movie? Are the reports emerging about its Earth-shattering collections fake? These questions have arisen in the minds of the Tamil cine-goers after an exhibitor went on to call the Vijay-starrer a flop movie at the box office.

Jeyaveeran, one of the partners in GK Cinemas, has allegedly stated that Sarkar has turned out to be a dud at the box office. He alleges that the Chengalpet distributor suffered a massive loss. Sun Pictures has promised to pay a compensation for the distributors across Tamil Nadu for the losses occurred due to the Tamil film.

According to the exhibitor, the business of Sarkar drastically dropped post first weekend. The theatre owners are under pressure to screen Vijay's film despite low occupancy rates.

The exhibitor says that Mersal did not yield profits to Sri Thenandal Films and Thalapathy associated with the same company which has links with Sun Pictures as a compensation deal.

He mentions that Vijay received Rs 50 crore remuneration for Sarkar and there was no pay cut for the losses incurred due to the poor performance of Mersal. The video of his interview can be watched below:

Jeyaveeran further adds that Vijay's films get good openings, but fail to sustain its business post first weekend. Whereas the movies of Ajith or Vikram, the movies will maintain the momentum.

Meanwhile, Ruban Mathivanan, the managing director of GK Cinemas, has come out with a clarification that Sarkar is a successful venture for them.

"Any news about any movie's success or collections at our screen will be shared officially only from this account. #Sarkar is very much a profitable venture for us. For cheap publicity, someone manipulated one of our partners to get such an interview [sic]," he claimed.
