Vijay's Diwali release Sarkar has remained at the numero uno place at the Chennai box office for the third consecutive weekend. The movie has emerged as the highest-grosser of the year in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

In its third weekend, Sarkar has grossed Rs 72.28 lakh from 231 shows at the Chennai box office. During the weekdays, the AR Murugadoss-directed movie raked in Rs 38.18 lakh from 280 shows, reports Behindwoods.

By the end of its third weekend, the total collection of Sarkar stands at Rs 14.94 crore. However, the movie is expected to lose the top position this weekend as Rajinikanth's magnum opus 2.0 is hitting the screens in huge number of screens.

Jyothika's Kaatrin Mozhi is in the second place by earning Rs 48.21 lakh from 156 shows. The total collection of the Tamil flick in 10 days stands at Rs 1.66 crore.

Hollywood film Ralph Breaks The Internet got an average start in Chennai by collecting Rs 29.28 lakh from 60 shows. New Tamil film Sei has opened to decent start by raking in Rs 18.50 lakh, English film Robin Hood has earned Rs 21.42 lakh, while Vijay Antony's Thimiru Pudichavan has collected Rs 12.68 lakh from 84 shows to take its 10-day total to Rs 88.79 lakh.

The Girl in the Spider's Web has collected Rs 12.05 lakh from 42 shows, Telugu film Taxiwala has earned Rs 11.29 lakh from 45 shows to take its 9-day total to Rs 70.06 lakh, Hollywood film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has raked in Rs 10.18 lakh from 39 shows to take its total tally to Rs 92.52 lakh and new Tamil flicks Pattinapakkam (Rs 7.53 lakh from 48 shows), Vandi (Rs 4.25 lakh from 30 shows) and Bohemian Rhapsody (3.04 lakh from 18 shows) are in the next positions.
