Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Bajirao Mastani" starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone that was eyeing on a Christmas release, may not hit the theatres this year.

The buzz is that the shooting of Bhansali's period film is far from complete and may not hit the silver screens before mid next year, reported The Times of India.

"Bajirao Mastani" is a period-drama and is based on the love story of warrior Peshwa BajiRao, (played by Singh) and his second wife Mastani (played by Padukone)

The film also has Priyanka Chopra play a supporting, yet important role of Baji Rao's first wife, Kashibai.

The plot of "Bajirao Mastani" will essentially revolve around the real life lovebirds Singh and Padukone, however, the story of Baji Rao's troubled first wife Kashibai is an important part of the film.

Interestingly, there were also reports that Rohit Shetty-Shah Rukh Khan's untitled film, which will soon go on floors, is looking for the festive date (25 December) for the film's release.

Incidentally, back in Diwali 2007, Shah Rukh's "Om Shanti Om" and Bhansali's "Saawariya" clashed at the box office. But, the "Happy New Year" actor gave Bhansali a run for his money as "Om Shanti Om" triumphed at the box office.

And now, with Bhansali's move to postpone "Bajirao Mastani", it appears like the producer-director don't want to clash with Shah Rukh at the box office and repeat history.
