Earlier in the month, we heard rumours of Samsung commencing Android Nougat software testing on its 2015 flagship Galaxy S6 series. Now, the first tangible evidence of the testing has surfaced online.
Samsung Galaxy S6 models running Android 7.0 Nougat has been spotted on two major benchmarking sites—GFXBench and Geekbench, hinting Samsung might include the 2015 flagship phone in the Galaxy Beta Program.
So far, the company has included only Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in Galaxy Beta Program in select regions—US, UK, South Korea and China.
With this new revelation, it looks like Samsung is done with internal testing on Galaxy S6 series and is most likely to invite public (registered users) to get feedback. Once these formalities are finished, the company will conduct one final test to root out any remaining bugs and then, release it to the public en-masse.
So, when can Galaxy S6 series owners expect to get the taste of Android Nougat?
It is widely reported that Samsung will first release the Nougat update to the current flagship Galaxy S7 series in a matter of weeks and its predecessor is expected to receive the firmware in early January 2017.
Android Nougat brings night mode for reading, multi-window options, bundled notification, improved battery optimisation, performance tweaks, and various other value-added features to enhance users' experience.

Along with the Android Nougat, Samsung is expected to incorporate its own custom UI, upgraded device maintenance app, improved blue light filter and many more value-added features to provide enriching user-experience.
Besides Galaxy S7 and S6 series, Samsung is expected to roll-out Nougat update to Galaxy Note 5 and select A and J series mid-range smartphones.
