Salvadorans celebrate the beatification of Archbishop Óscar Romero nearly three years before his Canonisation

The beatification of Óscar Romero was held in San Salvador on 23 May, 2015. Romero was assassinated during Mass in the chapel of the Hospital of Divine Providence in 1980. He will be declared a saint, Pope Francis announced on 7 March, 2018.
