Superstar Salman Khan does not think that Madhuri Dixit was paid more than him for the 1994 film, "Hum Aapke Hain Koun".

"I am not really aware of it but I don't think it is true. But I hope it is true," Mid-Day quoted the actor when asked if Madhuri was paid more than him for the blockbuster. Salman was speaking at a promotional event of his upcoming production venture "Hero".

The actor, who is currently prepping for "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", further talked about the pay disparity in the industry and asserted that it is something that you need to command and not demand. "The busier you get, the more people want to see you, that's how your price increases. So, if you can pull off a solo hero or solo heroine film on your own and the producers, exhibitors and distributors make that money then the producer doesn't have any problem sharing that money with you. So, you can't demand, you need to command that," said Salman.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, during a recent interaction with his fans on Twitter, had stated that Salman was paid less than Madhuri for "Hum Aapke Hain Koun". The Twitter question-answer session was based on 'gender equality' and the remark was made by Anupam when a fan asked him about the disparity between male and female actors in Bollywood, in terms of fees.

"I agree in certain cases it is true. But Madhuri was paid more than Salman in HAHK," Anupam had said during an "Ask Anupam" session.

The director of "Hum Aapke Hain Koun", Sooraj Barjatya, again teamed up with Salman after 15 years to make "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo". The film also features Sonam Kapoor and is slated to get released on 12 November.
