The much awaited verdict on Salman Khan's 2002 hit and run case has come in the actor's favour. The Bombay High Court has acquitted Salman of all the charges as it opined that the available evidences are not enough to prove the criminal charges against him.

The 2002 hit and run incident left one person dead and four others injured when Salman's Toyata Land Cruiser drove on the pavement of the American Express Bakery in Bandra. The victims were sleeping on the pavement.

A Mumbai Sessions Court on 6 May convicted Salman in the hit and run case on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and sentenced him of five years imprisonment. However, the actor then appealed against the session court's verdict at the High Court, which has freed Salman of all the charges due to lack of evidence.

Soon after the verdict was made, Twitter was abuzz with reactions, as hashtag #SalmanVerdict became the top trending topic on the micro-blogging site.

While Salman's fans and family have welcomed the verdict with open arms, there are many who have raised questions on the judiciary.

Although, the hit and run case verdict received mixed response on Twitter, most of the tweets appear to be against the judgement.
