Romantic thriller "Roy" has witnessed a huge drop in its third day business at the box office due to ICC World cup 2015 India vs Pakistan Match.

The film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez started off on a very good note and became the highest opening day grosser of 2015. On second day also the film witnessed jump in its business, but on third day the business went down drastically due to the match.

On opening day, "Roy" minted ₹10.4 crore, Saturday it minted ₹11.16 crore and on third day it minted ₹7.12 crore. The opening weekend box office collection of the film now stands at ₹28.68 crore.

"#Roy Fri 10.40 cr, Sat 11.16 cr, Sun 7.12 cr [biz affected due to cricket match]. Total: ₹ 28.68 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The collection was expected to witness a fall due to the match. The occupancy in the morning and afternoon remained low and only evening and night shows performed well.

"Roy", which shattered the opening day collection of "Baby", failed to beat its first weekend collection. Nevertheless, the three day total of "Roy" is the second highest after Akshay Kumar's "Baby".

"#Baby continues its forward march. Collects ₹15.60 cr on Sun. Today [26 Jan] should deliver big numbers again as word of mouth is super," Adarsh tweeted the opening weekend collection of "Baby" in January.

"Baby" is the highest opening weekend grosser with ₹36.07 crore, followed by "Roy" with ₹28.68 crore and "Tevar" in the third place with ₹22.05 crore.

"Roy", helmed by Vikramjit Singh, was released in 2500 screens in India. The film received negative to mixed reviews, but that didn't seem to affect the box office performance of "Roy" in India.
