Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker continues to register good sales for the second consecutive month in 2015 riding on the success of its newly launched Ciaz sedan in India. The company posted a growth of 8.7% in total sales in February, as against the same month last year.

Maruti sold 1,18,551 units in February, 2015, compared to the 1,09,104 units in same month last year. The domestic sales of the company for the month of February recorded 8.2% increase at 1,07,892 units as against the 99,758 units in February 2014.

While the sales of compact car segment of Maruti witnessed a 6.4% decline at 42,778 units in February as against 45,721 units during the same period. The sales for the mini-passenger segment, which includes M800, Alto, A-Star and Wagon R, jumped to 39,988 units in last month from 37,342 units in corresponding month last year. The sales of super-compact Dzire Tour stood at 2,552 units in February this year as against 1,304 units in February, 2014 -- registering a growth of 95.7%.

Maruti's new Ciaz posted a sale 5,410 units last month, as against 228 units of SX4 sedan in February, 2014.

The utility vehicles -- Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga – sales stood at 5,863 units in February, up by 12.1% from 5,231 units in the corresponding month last year. The sales for Omni and Eeco rose to 11,301 units compared to 9,932 units in February 2014, registering a growth of 13.8%.

Exports of the company also witnessed a surge by 14% to 10,659 units as against 9,346 units in February 2014. After the announcement of February sales, shares of Maruti gained over 1.6% to 3,676.25 on the BSE on Monday.
