Zero vs Thugs

Post 'Thugs' debacle, even Shah Rukh hasn't been able to shrug off the fear of his upcoming film Zero and its failure. Since his last few films – 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' and 'Fan' hadn't been able to make a blockbuster collection at the box office, Shah Rukh has a lot riding on the success or failure of Anand L Rai directed, 'Zero'.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, trade analyst Akshaye Rathi feels that there could be two reasons why the film might not be able to beat 'Thugs'. Further elaborating, Rathi said that since 'Thugs of Hindostan (Hindustan)' had released a day after Diwali, which is the biggest festival opening one can ask for, even that contributed a lot to the film's success. However, 'Zero' would be seeing a normal Friday release, much before the holiday season is to start.

Rathi also pointed out that 'Thugs' didn't have any major competition from any other film of that stature, however, Kannada magnum opus – KGF – might take up many screens too and thus would give a tough fight to the Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Talking about what if the film meets the same fate as his last few films, Shah Rukh Khan opened up in an interview with Hindustan Times. The 'Badshah' said, "I can't change that, and if I can't change something, why should I think about it? If people feel that 'Zero' is very important for me, it's their feeling. God forbid, if this film doesn't work, what will happen?"

"Maybe, I won't get work for six months or 10 months, but if I believe that my craft and art is good, I will continue to get work. I will probably make a comeback which I have been doing for the last 15 years (laughs), or maybe, the comeback won't happen. The trade world has a point of view about a film's business, and they are right from their viewpoint," he added.
