We have finally entered the month of October. What this means is that the next Halo – Halo 5: Guardians – is finally set to arrive. The Halo series has been one of the most popular and grandly celebrated Xbox exclusives of all time, and it isn't a surprise that so many fans across the planet are looking forward to the title.

Before the title officially hits the store shelves, what are we dealing with is the in-game REQ system. REQ, in short, stands for requisitions – basically points that are to be used towards perks and abilities while playing Halo 5. And here's a detailed breakdown of how this REQ system will work out when the game releases.

Halo 5: Guardians – REQ System Guide

Types of REQs

Once you are knee deep into the game, you will find out that the REQ packs contain one of three types of rewards. There are cosmetic rewards that will offer a new look to your armour, or maybe offer new assassination animations, although none of them will have any impact on the actual gameplay.

Another type of reward players can earn from a REQ pack are the permanent rewards, consisting of weapons with personal load outs, which will also turn out to be one of the most popular rewards among players. A personal load out is important for players since they will sync in with the players' playstyles.

The final kind of REQ reward will come as a special one-time use items – generally in the form of powerful vehicles and weapons. As mentioned earlier, these are only for one-time use in the Warzone (the 12v12 mode in the game).

REQ Packs

As many as six different kinds of REQ Packs will be available for Halo 5: Guardians, with the REQ Cards divided into five distinct categories – Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra-Rare and Legendary. Apart from that, there will also be Gold, Silver, Bronze, Premium, Supply and Promotional REQ Packs.

Bronze REQ Packs will include Common, single-use REQ Cards, while Silver REQ Packs will include REQ Cards that will range from Uncommon to Rare and even offer two permanent REQ Cards. Gold REQ Packs, however, will offer a large number of cards that will range in rarity from Uncommon to Legendary, with two permanent guaranteed REQs on offer.

There are also Premium REQ Packs that will provide a large number of REQ Cards. Supply REQ Packs can be obtained by obtaining specific Halo licensed products at Retail outlets, while Promotional REQ Packs will be available via various promotions and offer predetermined rewards.
