French auto maker Renault has launched the new Duster Oroch pickup truck in Brazil. The Oroch pickup is based on the Duster SUV which is a hot selling item in India. The pickup was first unveiled at the Buenos Aires international motor show, Argentina, in June 2015.

Renault claims Oroch is positioned between the half-ton and one-ton pickups. With five seats and four doors, it combines a double cab with a level of space comparable to a bigger pickup.

The pickup measures 4,700mm in length, 1,800 in width and 1,690mm in height with 683-litres of trunk capacity. The trunk bed measures 1,350mm in length and 1,175 mm in width.

Since Oroch is based on Duster SUV, the former gets a new single-slat front grille, tweaked bumpers, new tail-lamps and a pickup like design starting from the C-pillar. The interior also features Duster based layout, three-spoke steering wheel and 7-inch display system.

The Oroch is offered with the same dual-fuel (petrol/ethanol) engines sold with the Duster SUV in Brazil. The 1.6-litre engine develops 110hp (115hp with ethanol) and a 2.0-litre engine churns out 143hp (148hp with ethanol). The 1.6-litre engine is offered with a five-speed manual transmission, while the 2.0-litre engine gets a six-speed manual. An automatic transmission will be available later.

The pickup is sold in three trim levels: Expression 1.6, Dynamique 1.6 and Dynamique 2.0. All three variants are equipped with dual airbags, ABS, power steering, air conditioning, 16-inch alloys, power windows, CD MP3 radio with four speakers and roof rail.

The higher two variants additionally gets the Media NAV Evolution infotainment system, fog lamps, 16-inch dark grey alloy wheels, cruise control, parking sensors, steering wheel with leather trim and trip computer.

An earlier report also suggests that Renault is contemplating to bring Duster Oroch to India in order to enter in the light commercial vehicle segment. If the plan gets green flag, Duster-based Oroch pickup can be seen on our roads in the near future.
