Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone-starrer "Tamasha" failed to impress at the box office and the latest reports suggest that the two stars have returned a good amount of their fee to the producer and distributor.

It has been reported that Ranbir has returned around Rs 10 crore to UTV and Sajid Nadiadlwala, while Deepika gave away around Rs 5 crore. Ranbir and Deepika returned the portion of their fee apparently to save the distributors from suffering big losses.

"No actor reduces his fee. In fact, UTV's Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sajid Nadiadwala should be grateful to Ranbir for giving back a substantial amount of his contrated fee," Spotboye quoted a source as saying.

The report further said that Imtiaz Ali's "Tamasha" had an average run at the box office and just somehow recovered the production cost. The source also said that one of the reasons for the movie not being liked by the audience is that they were expected to be featured in a feel-good movie and not in any arty film, after the success of "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani".

The film witnessed decent opening at the box office, but eventually failed to keep the momentum. While the film received mixed reviews from the critics, Ranbir has been widely praised for his performance.
