"Lingaa" cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu, while editing is done by Samjith Mhd. The film is produced by Rockline Venkatesh and he has sold the film's rights to Eros International for a whopping amount.

According to latest reports, Eros is likely fetch over ₹200 crore for the film even before it could hit the screens.

"There are huge numbers already in circulation, and it is a matter of time before the deals are signed on the dotted line. 55-60 crore are all set to come in for the satellite rights of the Tamil and Telugu version," a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.

"Further, 60-65 crore offer is already there for the taking w.r.t. Tamil theatrical rights in India. Telugu theatrical rights are further fetching them 30-35 crore. In addition, the film is being sold overseas for approx. 30 crore just for the Tamil version. In addition to this all, there are music rights which are with Eros," the source added.

"Lingaa" will be the superstar's first live action film in four years after "Robot" hit the screens in 2010. The actor's last release "Kochadaiiayaan," which released in May 2014, was India's first 3D film using motion-capturing techniques. The historical drama film failed to set the cash registers ringing and fans of the superstar will be hoping that "Lingaa" strikes gold at the box office.

The film is slated to release for Rajinikanth's birthday on 12 December.
