Finally, the day that Mohanlal fans have been eagerly waiting for is just around the corner. The superstar's Pulimurugan is set to hit the screens on October 7 after the release date of the action thriller was postponed several times.

Mohanlal

Mohanlal's name itself is the USP of Pulimurugan, in which the superstar plays the role of a wild hunter. The teaser and the trailer of the Vysakh directorial have already raised the expectations of the audience. It is the second direct Malayalam release of the year this year after Priyadarshan's Oppam, which has been performing well at worldwide box office. The other movies of Mohanlal, released this year are multilingual projects Manamantha and Janatha Garage.

Vysakh directorial

Pulimurugan is the directorial venture of Vysakh, who has helmed Pokkiri Raja, Seniors and Mallu Singh. Even though his previous movie Cousins failed to make a mark at the box office, Pulimurugan is expected to change his career graph as it stars Mohanlal in the lead role.

Over-hype that helps business

Pulimurugan, bankrolled by Tomichan Mulakupadam, has become one of the most hyped movies of the year and the fans of the superstar are all set to celebrate the Mohanlal-starrer. It is evident from the pre-release business of the action thriller with almost houseful opening day shows in Kerala. It will have as many as 42 shows at multiplexes in Kochi alone. The movie is expected to break the first day collection record of Mammootty's Kasaba, which is said to have earned a gross amount of Rs 2.43 crore on the opening day from Kerala. So far, Loham is Mohanlal's highest first day grosser with a collection of Rs 2.14 crore from Kerala.

Fights with a tiger choreographed by Peter Hein

Pulimurugan has many fight sequences, choreographed by popular fight master Peter Hein, who has worked in many superhit movies in South India. Some of his notable films include Sivaji: The Boss, Ghajini, Magadheera, Raavan, Enthiran: The Robot, Rudramadevi and Baahubali: The Beginning among many others. The Mohanlal-starrer is also said to have a 20-minute climax scene in which the superstar will be seen fighting with a tiger.

Apart from the stellar performance of Mohanlal, the big-budget entertainer also has Kamalini Mukherjee, Namitha, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jagapati Babu, Makarand Deshpande, Lal, Bala, Kishore, MR Gopakumar, Vinu Mohan and Ramesh Pisharody in pivotal roles.
