The Tamil version of Anushka Shetty starrer "Rudhramadevi" or "Rudramadevi" is all set to be released in Tamil Nadu on 16 October, a week after its original Telugu version hit the screens worldwide.

The dubbed Tamil version of "Rudhramadevi" will witness a big release in Tamil Nadu as the screen count is expected to reach 400 in the state. Thus, the trade circle is debating if Anushka's movie will affect Vijay's "Puli".

Vijay's "Puli" was released on 1 October and had made Rs 71 crore gross worldwide in its opening week. The movie garnered average reviews and had a good run in theatres in Tamil Nadu as no big films hit the screens.

Now, Anushka Shetty's movie will be released on a wide scale by Thendral Films. This film from Telugu audience has got fairly positive reviews even though the VFX quality came under the scanner. Hence, the industry insiders are predicting that "Rudhramadevi" release will have some serious impact on the collection of Vijay's movie.

The industry insiders believe that "Rudhramadevi" would not have got so many screens if "Puli" had got positive reviews from the large section of the audience. Generally, an A-list star's movie with good reviews dominates screens for at least three weeks; Vijay's "Kaththi" and "Thuppakki" had done the same.

"Rudhramadevi" is a historical movie that traces the life and times of popular ruler of the Kakatiya dynasty of the same name. Anushka Shetty has played the title role with Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati of "Baahubali" fame playing the important characters in the flick.

"Rudhramadevi", which is made with the budget of Rs 80 crore, has been written and directed by Gunasekhar. It has Illayaraaja's music, Ajayan Vincent's cinematography and Sreekar Prasad's editing.

The Telugu version raked in Rs 19.62 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions alone in the first weekend.
