When the likes of PS4 and Xbox One came around, it not only ushered a new era of gaming, but introduced a handful of features that were previously unthinkable for last generation consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3. And while we are just starting out with the new generation, it seems like Sony is already developing a console for the next generation.

According to reports, Sony has already started R&D for its next-gen system, and now falls in line with the likes Nintendo who's also said to be working on a next-gen system called NX.

That Sony working on its new console was recently hinted via a new career opportunity ad posted by Sony Computer Entertainment, seeking a Senior Game Programmer.

Apparently, the company needs "a senior game programmer to assist [them] in developing a game used for R&D purposes related to [them] next generation gaming system."

The selected candidate will then "contribute to the development of technology, systems and tools used in game development, including: game logic, behaviours, animations, motion systems, mini-games, physics systems, collision systems, rendering, particle effects, entities systems, camera logic, and sound to name a few."

While nothing has been made official so far, but going by the fact that Sony is looking to hire a senior game programmer for its next-gen gaming system, it surely has to be the PlayStation 5. And if true, this will come as shock to a number of fans since the new console generation has only just started.

Do you think Sony is rushing into things, considering the fact that PS4 was just released, or is it just future-proofing its console business from the likes of Nintendo and Microsoft? Let us know in the comments section below.
