Cressida Bonas' recent outing with a group of friends, where she was spotted cosying up to a male companion, has poured cold water on rumours of her patch up with ex boyfriend Prince Harry.

According to reports, the pair seemed inseparable and at one point he was seen pulling Bonas into a tight hug and planting a kiss on her head.

Bonas and Prince Harry split up in 2014, and since then there have been rumours of their breakup being a temporary one, much like what his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton went through in 2007. William and Middleton reunited a few years later and got engaged in 2010.

Rumours of Prince Harry's reunion with Bonas started swirling around shortly after they were spotted hanging out together during Prince Harry's 31st birthday celebration.

"They were out with a group of friends having a drink to celebrate Harry's 31st. It was also a chance for him to say hello to some of his pals, having spent the summer working in Africa," a source told the Mail Online at the time.

"Harry and Cress have always kept in touch and are fond of each other. They aren't together at the moment and although you can never say never. Cressida is very fond of him but, well, he didn't quite cut the mustard. The issues that were there when they broke up haven't changed."

The duo is yet to comment on what drove them apart, but according to people close to the couple, it was the very public nature of their relationship that made her uncomfortable.

"Cressida had a hard time dealing with the focus of attention being on her all of the time just because she was Prince Harry's girlfriend – not because she was herself," Ingrid Seward, editor in chief of Majesty magazine, told People last year.

Bonas' half-brother Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe also noted that it wasn't easy dating a royal. "It's not something that is easy for anyone – dating a royal or marrying into the family," he said in an interview with the Evening Standard. "She's not a tough cookie at all. She's a sensitive, sweet girl."
