Aamir Khan's 'PK' (Peekay) to Create 300 Crore Club at Box Office?facebook

Aamir Khan is a trend setter when it comes to box office collection reports. The actor created the two most hyped clubs – ₹100 crore and ₹200 crore – in India and looks like Aamir is set to start a third group soon.

His latest film "PK", released on his lucky date (19 December), has received an overwhelming response at the box office collection centres globally. The comedy drama, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, has already crossed ₹250 crore mark at the domestic box office and now trade analysts reckon that it will touch ₹300 crore.

Interestingly, the journey of ₹100 crore and ₹200 crore groups were started by Aamir. In 2008, his film "Ghajini" earned around ₹150 crore and became the first film to score a century in India. And next year with the release of "3 Idiots" he created ₹200 crore club in India.

While his last film "Dhoom 3" failed to create the third group, industry experts believe that "PK" or "Peekay" will earn ₹300 crore easily.

"Aamir was the first to start the Rs ₹100 crore record and now, he seems headed for ₹ 300 crore. His 'Dhoom 3' earned ₹ 285 crore last year and 'pk' is sure to beat that in a week." Trade pundit Komal Nahata told Mid-Day.

Another trade analyst said that the film has good content and repeat value, and thus it can easily set a new benchmark.

"PK is the kind of film which could well go to even ₹250 or ₹300 crore as it promises good content along with entertainment value. The names attached to the film are credible too," trade analyst Girish Johar told Bollywood Hungama.

"PK" is a festival release and after Christmas, it has an added advantage on New Year holiday, which is falling on Thursday. So, expectations are riding high on Aamir to set a new benchmark of ₹300 crore.
