After weeks of speculations, Pepsi branded P1 series has been officially launched in China.
The new P1 series phone is actually manufactured by Chinese firm Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co., Ltd, which has acquired the exclusive license from the American beverage conglomerate to use Pepsi brand on its devices.
Pepsi phone comes in two variants, P1 and P1s. The former is an unlocked model, whereas the P1s is FDD-LTE based China Unicom exclusive model, reported Fone Arena.
Both Pepsi P1 and P1s sport 5.5-inch full HD display and run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS powered by the MediaTek Octa-core SoC (System on Chip), 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory and a 3000 mAh battery.
They also feature a 13MP camera on the rear-side and a 5MP snapper on the front.
The key aspect of the mid-range Pepsi P1 series is the fingerprint sensor on the back of device to provide an additional layer of security to the device. It is ergonomically placed below the camera module, so that the users' fingers get easy access to the fingerprint sensor.

Shenzhen Scooby Communication Equipment Co., Ltd, probably to test the consumer reaction, is selling limited number of Pepsi P1 series units in phases on crowd-funding website JD.com.
In the recently-concluded stage-1 process, Pepsi P1 series was offered for ¥499 (around $78/€73/Rs. 5166). The Phase-2 campaign has just got underway in China [HERE]. Now the device units numbering 1000 is being offered for ¥699 (around $110/€102/Rs. 7,245).
Later in the third and the final fourth phase- 1000 units - at each stage will offered for ¥999 (around $157/€146/Rs. 10,345) and ¥1299 (around $204/€190/Rs. 13,451) respectively. So far, the company has been able to raise a little over ¥621,400 (around $97,374/€90,841/Rs. 64,40,393) at the time of filing this report.
With this promotional campaign, the company plans to rake in ¥3,000,000 (around $470,035/€438,496/Rs. 3,10,60,000) and take a final decision to mass produce Pepsi P1 series and also probably think of releasing in other markets.
