Prithviraj Sukumaran's "Ennu Ninte Moideen", Dileep's "Life of Josutty" and Asif Ali's "Kohinoor" are making some good money at the box office in Kerala.

Even though Mammootty's "Utopiayile Rajavu", Mohanlal's "Loham" and other Onam releases failed to make their mark at the box office, some of the upcoming Malayalam films are expected to do roaring business in India and abroad.

Mammootty's "Pathemari", Mohanlal's "Loham", Prithviraj-Indrajith Sukumaran-Jayasurya starrer "Amar Akbar Anthony", Manju Warrier-Rima Kallingal's "Rani Padmini" and Asif's "Driver on Duty" are expected to be released in October.

"Pathemari"

The release of Malayalam megastar Mammootty's "Pathemari" has been postponed many times and the film is now expected to hit the screens on 9 October. The film, which tells the story of Keralite immigrants in the Gulf countries, also has Jewel Mary and Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Balachandra Menon, Joy Mathew, Yavanika Gopalakrishnan and Shaheen Siddique in main roles.

"Amar Akbar Anthony"

The Nadirshah directorial, which has young superstars Prithviraj, Indrajith and Jayasurya in the lead roles, is one of the much-awaited films of the year. Namitha Pramod will be seen in the female lead role in the upcoming comedy entertainer, which is expected to hit the screens on 16 October.

"Kanal"

The upcoming Mohanlal starrer with the tag line "Every end has an old beginning" is directed by M Padmakumar and scripted by S Suresh Babu. "Kanal" tells the story of two families hailing from Kerala who have spent their lives in the Middle East.

The film also has Anoop Menon, Atul Kulkarni, Pratap Pothan, Honey Rose, Nikita Thukral and Sheelu Abraham in pivotal roles. Produced by Abraham Mathew under the banner Abaam Movies in association with Aashirvad Films, "Kanal" is expected to hit the screens on 21 October.

"Rani Padmini"

Director Aashiq Abu's upcoming travelogue film "Rani Padmini" has Manju Warrier and Rima Kallingal in the lead roles. The film tells the story of the duo's journey from Kochi to Himachal Pradesh. "Rani Padmini" is slated to hit theatres on 23 October.

"Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi"

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon's comical fantasy "Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi", which is touted to be a film for all generations has an ensemble cast, including Kunchako Boban, Reenu Mathews, Sunny Wayne, Bharath, Chemban Vinod, Nedumudi Venu, Sudheer Karamana and Jacob Gregory. The film is said not to have any protagonist or antagonist and is set to release later in October.

Driver on Duty

Asif, who is basking in the success of his latest film, "Kohinoor", will be next seen in debutant director Manoj Palodan's "Driver on Duty". The film, which revolves around a male driver amidst 11 women police officers, also has Abhirami, Janani Iyer, Sajitha Madathil and Sruthi Lakshmi in pivotal roles. Sources close to the film say that the shooting of one song is pending.
