October was an amazing month for Malayalam cinema, with some of the best movies of the year released the month.
From "Pathemari" to "Rani Padmini", the Kerala box office witnessed record breaking collections along with some September releases such as "Ennu Ninte Moideen", "Life of Josutty" and "Kohinoor".
Prithviraj starrer "Ennu Ninte Moideen" grossed about Rs 32.67 crore and a net of Rs 25.56 crore from Kerala in 42 days; the film's all India gross crossed Rs 37.50 crore, making it the first solo blockbuster of the actor.

"Rani Padmini"
A women-centric film based on the life of two females, Rani and Padmini, it is a decent movie released in recent times. Compared to other Aashiq Abu directorials, the Manju Warrier and Rima Kallingal movie does not have any extra-ordinary plot, yet, the main highlight of the film is its beautiful cinematography, shot in Kerala, Chandigarh, Delhi and the Himalayas by cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan.

"Kanal"
The USP of "Kanal" is the remarkable performance by superstar Mohanlal, as the Padmakumar directorial has a lagging screenplay, being a slow paced revenge drama. The film can be tagged as a one-time watch film.

"Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi" (LL7K)
The multi-starrer fantasy thriller "LL7K" is a visual treat and highlights one of the serious social and environmental issues of these days, asking the younger generation to come forward to preserve the natural resources rather than exploiting them for money. The efforts of eight people to preserve a village inside a forest is the plot of the movie. Without any surprise or thrilling elements, one can watch "LL7K" as a feel-good film.

"Amar Akbar Anthony"
Do not miss Prithviraj-Indrajith Sukumaran-Jayasurya's "Amar Akbar Anthony" if you want to laugh a lot. The film is sure to make you laugh and most importantly, will make you react to one of the important social issues young girls face in our country. The debut directorial venture of Nadirshah is a must watch and purely a family entertainer. The film is said to have collected Rs 16.3 crore within 14 days of its release.

"Pathemari"
If you have at least one friend or family member working in the Gulf, Mammootty starrer "Pathemari" is a must watch. The film clearly portrays the struggling life of people, especially Keralites, working in the Middle East, sacrificing their happiness to in order to help their families back home. Without any twists or turns, the film is an amazing comeback of Mammootty, and one can witness one of the powerful performances of the actor till date.
