Oppo R5: Ultra-Slim 4G-LTE Smartphone Launched in India; Price, Specifications

The much-awaited ultra-slim smartphone Oppo R5 has been finally launched in India.

"This phone (Oppo R5) has been developed with the end-user in mind. We used cutting edge manufacturing techniques to create a phone that fits perfectly into the users' hands, and that feels incredible. The frame has been forged nine times and then finished by hand to give a perfect sheen and feel. It has a quality that is not available anywhere else in the industry," said Tom Lu, CEO, OPPO India.

"The R5, like the rest of the R series delivers a truly stylish, exquisite and distinctive design and will continue to delight our customers with its innovative yet practical functions," he added.

Oppo R5's USP is that it measures just a 4.85 mm in thickness. It held world record for being the slimmest phone briefly for few weeks. Early this month, it got beaten by Vivo X5 Max, which measures 4.75 mm.

Other stipulated features of Oppo R5 include- 5.2-inch full HD (1920x1080p) AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass 3 shield, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 series Octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt memory, 13.0-megapixel main camera, 5.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a 2000 mAh battery.

The new Oppo R5 has been priced at ₹29,990 and will be made available for pre-booking in India from 1 January, 2015.

Competition:

The new Oppo R5 will be up against the soon-to-be-released Vivo X5 Max, Gionee Elife S5.1, HTC Desire 820Q, Desire 816, Motorola Moto X (Gen 2), Galaxy S5, 2013 Samsung flagship phablet - Galaxy Note 3, HTC One E8 and others.
