Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan starrer "Piku" opened on a decent note at the domestic box office, while Sunny Leone and Ram Kapoor's "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" had a poor opening day.

PIKU

The opening day box office collection of the comedy film, which tells the story of a father and daughter, has been decent. On the opening day, the film minted ₹5.5 crore from domestic box office, which is better than Amitabh's last movie "Shamitabh".

In fact, the opening day box office collection of "Piku" is better than "Ek Paheli Leela", "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!", "Mr X" and "NH10".

The film initially opened to average occupancy, but with positive word of mouth and good reviews, the occupancy increased in the latter part of the day. The overall opening day occupancy of "Piku" was around 40% in India.

The Shoojit Sircar directorial also received positive reviews from celebrities and critics upon its release in India.

The film is expected to enjoy its opening weekend at the domestic box office and take its three days total to good level.

"Piku", which was released on 8 May, also features Moushumi Chatterjee, Raghuvir Yadav and Jishu Sengupta in pivotal roles.

KUCH KUCH LOCHA HAI

Sunny Leone's latest outing at the box office has failed to impress critics and viewers. The sex comedy "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" opened to poor response at the box office on Friday.

The occupancy was so bad, that its opening day box office collection has failed to even earn a crore.

"Piku" completely overshadowed Leone's film "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" at the ticket window on opening day. Also, last week's "Gabbar Is Back" posed as a competition to Leone's film at the box office.

Looking at the opening day collection, one can say that "Kuch Kuch Locha Hai" has no future at the box office in the coming days.
