Soon after the launch of the OnePlus 2, the company's co-founder Carl Pei in an interview with USA Today in August had announced that the OnePlus would launch a new phone by Christmas this year.

Now, Gizmo China has got hold of the first ever snapshots of the aforementioned smartphone. The website, citing sources, has claimed that the device will be christened as OnePlus X (aka 2 Mini).

In the first image, we see the front-side of device featuring single grille speakers one each on the top and at the bottom. Though there is metal-finish based frame around the edge, the design language is a bit different from OnePlus 2 as there is no physical home-button (with finger-print sensor).

In the second snapshot, we see the vertically placed dual-cameras (with dual-LED flash) on top, reminding us of the 2014 flagship smartphone HTC One M8's camera.

[Note: Secondary snapper on top of the main camera module are usually employed to extract more in-depth information of the scene around the subject, so that the user can re-focus multiple objects in the photo.]

And just below camera module, we see the ring shaped finger-print sensor (with the company's trademark), similar to the ones we have seen in leaked image of Google's soon to be released 2015 series Nexus smartphones.

We also find the speaker grills at the bottom edge with USB port (probably Type C) similar to the original OnePlus 2. [Check out the OnePlus X images, HERE]

As of now, there is no word on what internal hardware OnePlus X will come with. But sources have indicated that the device will be a mid-range phone and would be made available either in October or in November for around $249 (€222/₹16,330). So far the company is yet to respond to the leaked photos. Stay tuned for more updates.
