OnePlus One All Set for Release in India on 2 December; 5 Key Specifications of Flagship Smartphone KillerOnePlus

Chinese smartphone maker, OnePlus is all geared to launch the flagship handset – 'One' in India via online store Amazon.

Though OnePlus One is a bit late to arrive in India, it is still popular among tech-savvy youth and price-sensitive middle-class people as the upcoming phone is power-packed with high-end features and yet its price is almost half compared to other top tier branded handsets in the market.

To provide some perspective on the new OnePlus One, we have listed key aspects, which users can use to decide whether or not the flagship phablet is worth the money.

Five Key Specifications of OnePlus One to know:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Series SoC: OnePlus One phones ships with the blazing fast Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, which can clock close to 2.5GHz CPU speed. It is aptly supported by the Adreno 330 graphics engine and sumptuous 578MHz 3GB LP-DDR3 RAM, which is more than enough to do multiple tasks at once and run power-hogging 3D games with very less lag.

Full HD display: the flagship OnePlus smartphone boasts full HD (1,920x1,080p) resolution screen with a pixel density of staggering 401 ppi (pixels per inch). Some might argue that other Tier-1 based marquee devices boasts of QHD (aka 2K: 2,560x1,440p) display, but many people don't know fact that the normal eye will not be able to notice difference between screens beyond HD (1,280x720p) resolutions.

We can notice media quality richness only when a 4K video is played out on the device. However, it comes with a price. Ultra HD consumes lot of memory space. Most of the device makers, probably due out of ideas, make these kind of incremental upgrade in smartphone display panels.

Custom Android ROM: Many OnePlus fans will be already knowing that the CyanogenMod custom ROM support was recently revoked by the American software company due its contractual obligations to Micromax's new Yu series smartphone.

However, there is no need to fret, as the Chinese company is already on the works to provide new custom Android OS support and in that order, OnePlus has already constituted a new team in place. If all things fall in place accordingly, OnePlus One users will get the community version of Android 5.0 Lollipop update by this month end. The company will release the update with complete instructions (with online tutorial videos) for manual installation.

Thats not all; OnePlus has promised to provide two years OS update service for the phone. The new community OS version is set of new customization options including ClearImage features and more.

The company's India head, Vikas Agarwal has also confirmed that users who want to continue with CyanogenMod CM11S software updates can still do with flashing the phone manually. [More information, HERE]

Camera: OnePlus One boasts a feature-rich 13mp Sony Exmor IMX214 camera with 6 physical lenses, f/2.0 aperture, dual-LED flash and on the front-side, it houses 5mp (80-degeree) wide-angle snapper, which is certain to please selfie aficionados.

Price: The main USP of OnePlus One is that the device's price is dirt cheap. Compared to other Tier-1 brand smartphones like Galaxy S5, HTC One and others, which house almost same internal hardware and yet One Plus phones costs half their price-tag. 64GB model is said to cost under ₹25,000 bucks. Going by the specifications, it is a smart buy.

For the uninitiated, invite-only procedure is carried out via contest/promotional events either by OnePlus or an affiliate (in India, people have to get invites via Amazon online store). Prospective consumers have to sign up at company's official Facebook, Twitter and other social networking platforms. Once applied, a few lucky consumers would get a pass (or an invite) and will be eligible to book the device.
