OnePlus One Gets CM11S Update With Tons Of New Features; What Does It Mean For Indian Users
OnePlus Rolls Out New CyanogenMod 11S Update; Here Are The New Features And UpgradesOnePlus

Early this month, popular Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus had announced the release of the much-awaited company's in-house Oxygen OS (Android 5.0 Lollipop) to 'One' on 27 March, but failed to deliver the update.

"My team and I have been working on OxygenOS for the past several months. It was our sincere hope to release the result of our hard work to all of you today. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet this date and we are as disappointed as you are. On behalf of myself and my team, I would like to apologize for this wait," said Helen, head of mobile product, OnePlus.

OnePlus has begun conducting a stress test on OTA (Over-The-Air) release of Oxygen OS and just few hours ago, they found a couple of issues.

The good news is that the company developers are fixing them now and are expected to officially roll-out the update soon, probably by this month end, which is not that far away.

The company, in its bid to make reparation for failing to keep its promise, is giving away flagship smartphone –OnePlus One (64GB) Standstone Black model to five lucky fans.

The chosen ones are:

  1. @LMH98
  2. @jaypeesmith
  3. @Rushaabh
  4. @topgun1984
  5. @greenboyotb

The company will contact the winners in the next few hours and detail them on how the devices will be delivered.

In a related development, a few days back OnePlus reportedly announced that Cyanogen 12 OS (Android Lollipop) will also be made available to 'One' Indian owners via OTA.

This comes as a welcome surprise since OnePlus had announced to One users in India that they will be porting the new Oxygen OS with tutorial video later this month.

A user going by the moniker, Sahil Mufc Malhotra (@hescoresgalores), questioned Carl Pei (OnePlus chief) on why Indian users won't be getting the Lollipop update.

To that, he replied –" @hescoresgalores no it's not. CM12S will be delivered via OTA."

The reply from Pei, is a little contradictory because OnePlus One phones sold in India via Amazon are not eligible for Cyanogen OS update.

As of now, there is no word on how the three companies, Cyanogen, OnePlus and Micromax, reached a compromise. There is also a possibility that this might be a case of misunderstanding by Carl Pei.
