Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor's OK Jaanu, which got released on Friday, January 13, has received mixed reviews from critics.

Directed by Shaad Ali and co-produced by Karan Johar and Mani Ratnam, OK Jaanu is the official remake of Ratnam's Tamil blockbuster, OK Kanmani, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen. The Hindi remake also stars veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and dancer Leela Samson in pivotal roles.
The movie has impressed certain sections of critics and the audience alike. They claim the film is entertaining. The storyline of the film revolves around live-in relationships. This is the second time Aditya and Shraddha will be sharing screen space as the lead pair. The two were earlier seen in the superhit movie, Aashiqui 2.
We bring to you some critics' opinions about the movie:
Manjari Saxena of Gulf News said: "Shaad Ali's directorial OK Jaanu is a sweet love story. But of the saccharine kind. It's disappointing to see a man of Mani Ratnam's calibre pen a story that loses its plot as it keeps presenting the same thing over and over again in slightly different settings. Keep this one for the television premiere."
Lokesh Dharmani of Masala.com said: "Ok Jaanu doesn't convince you with the couple's fear against marriage. Neither does it showcase real career problems. The parents and family are also such boring cardboard characters. You can see the climax well in advance but can hardly see any logic or reasoning in their change of hearts. Both Shradha and Aditya do full justice to their lazily written characters. Their chemistry is palpable and their efforts are earnest!"
Financial Express said: "Shraddha and Aditya bring to life the chemistry that we adored in Aashiqui, so that definitely works in favour of OK Jaanu. What doesn't is that it's eerily similar to last year's Befikre. Not just in terms of theme, but also that plight of two capable actors having nothing to work with other than cliched scenes about live-in complications. And since it's a Bollywood film, we know long before the characters do that they'll tie the knot- this makes them seem dimwitted rather than trying to figure themselves out."
Rashma Shetty Bali of Bollywood Life said: "Well, OK Jaanu will be a treat to Shraddha and Aditya fans. While Shraddha and Aditya both fare decently through the first half, the emotional scenes are a major let down. If you are a sucker for romantic films or then easy movies then you wouldn't mind spending your two hours and fifteen minutes in the theatre for this one."
Nihit Bhave of the Times of India said: "In this seemingly tailor-made role, Aditya Roy Kapur shines as a goofy, shorts-wearing man-child. Shraddha is mostly sincere too, but there are scenes where you can't help but flashback to Nithya Menen, who had charmed people's socks off with her performance in OK Kanmani. In spite of its Pros, one can't deny that unsure young lovers and their battle with commitment phobia is a tired topic to begin with. Moreover, if you've seen the original Tamil film, it'll get tedious after a while, knowing exactly what's coming next. If you haven't seen the original though, you're sure to walk out of the theatre with a warm-fuzzy feeling."
