While US President Donald Trump always manages to make headlines, be it for his policies, his gaffes or of course the sexual misconduct allegations, his wife and first lady Melania Trump often maintains a low profile. However, we must admit that whenever she attends events and makes appearances, she always manages to steal the limelight as she brings her A-game when it comes to fashion and style.

And Thursday was no different when she posed alongside her husband in their first official Christmas portrait as the president and the first lady of the United States. The image was posted was FLOTUS' official handle with a caption that read: "Merry Christmas from President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. @POTUS & @FLOTUS are seen Tuesday, December 5, in their official 2017 Christmas portrait, in the Cross Hall of the White House in Washington, D.C."

Melania stunned in a sleeveless black Delpozo dress, paired with classic black pumps. Even though the ensemble sounds pretty staple, the dress, with sparkly embellishments, looked wonderful on her super-toned figure.

She kept her look simple with light make-up and nude lips, and wore her hair parted on the side and let down in loose waves. Beside her, the president looks extremely pleased dressed in a black tuxedo and black dress shoes.

Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen Pence also tweeted their portrait and Karen captioned the image thus: "Our official Christmas portrait has been released! We took this photo on Saturday, December 9, at the Vice President's Residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington, DC."

Amid the festivities, we couldn't help but remember former US president Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama's first Christmas portrait in the year 2009. The former president and former first lady looked thrilled to be celebrating Christmas at the White House. The then-president posed in a black tuxedo, and Michelle looked very stylish in a purple flowy off-the-shoulders gown.

While we have always loved Michelle's sense of style – after all, she has been a favourite among several designers such as Jason Wu, Donatella Versace, Riccardo Tisci, Prabal Gurung, and Naeem Khan to name a few – we think this time Melania has an upper hand in the remarkable black dress.

Sure Michelle has been impressive on several occasions but Melania is clearly not far behind when it comes to style. Be it her flowy dresses, form-fitting attires, crisp and well-tailored pant-suits, or her enviable trench coats, she always stands out. And we hope she will give us fashion-lovers more reasons to love her in the days to come.
