Nokia's decision to use Android as the base platform for its latest N1 tablet has really turned things around. The tablet's first sale in China was a huge success with 20,000 units sold out in a matter of just 4 minutes. While it is posing as a threat to Xiaomi's dominance in its home market, Nokia has also defeated Apple's iPad mini 3 in the latest benchmark tests.

In a report shared by GSM Arena, Nokia N1 tablet beat Apple's latest iPad mini 3 in more than one benchmark tests. According to the results, Nokia N1 scored 589 frames in GFXBench's Manhattan test while iPad Mini 3 just had 553 frames. In a separate set of tests ran on AnTuTu Benchmark site, N1's CPU efficiency scored 45,121 compared to iPad mini 3's weak score of 28,446. In the image processing efficiency test, N1 once again flourished with the highest score of 12,623 while iPad Mini 3 had 10,102 on its marks sheet.

With these successful results, Nokia's N1 is gunning for a reputable position in the competitive tablet market. The tablet sports impressive specs that outshine its rivals in this category. Powered by Intel's Atom Z3580 processor clocking speeds at 2.3GHz, Nokia N1 sports a 7.9-inhc 2,048 x 1,536 pixel display, 8MP rear-camera, 5MP front shooter, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and a 5,300mAh battery. It is also one of the few devices powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with its own Nokia Z launcher on top.

Nokia chose its launch market as China and it has been a good decision. The company's stock was sold out in minutes more than a million people trying to make the purchase online. Nokia adopted the successful online-exclusive sale concept, popularized by Xiaomi, and worked well in Nokia's favor.

Nokia is yet to reveal the international availability and going by the success of its first sale we can expect it to happen soon. Nokia N1's price is another major appeal to customers who cannot resist buying the feature-heavy tablet at just CNY 1,599 ($257 or Rs. 16,200).
