The past one year did not see any major development in the mysterious death of 51-year-old Sunanda Pushkar, wife of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
Pushkar was found dead inside her hotel room at Leela Palace in New Delhi on January 17, 2014. Since then, the Delhi Police has not made any significant breakthrough in the case, barring filing a murder FIR on 6 January after the postmortem report revealed that Pushkar had died of poisoning.
Pushkar's viscera samples will be sent to London soon for further testing since Indian labs do not have sufficient facilities needed for the tests.
As per Delhi Police sources, Pushkar was injected with poison by someone close to her. The sources also said that Pushkar was unhappy with her personal life and that there were many contradictions in the statements given by Tharoor and the people examined in relation to the case.
According to IBN Live reports, police sources have quoted Pushkar's mysterious death case as an open-and-shut one and have not mentioned the name of any killer. The police are yet to find any possible clue about the motive behind Pushkar's death.
However, over the last week the police have hinted at the prospect of questioning Tharoor in the case. Meanwhile, questioning sessions are on for other relevant persons related to the case.
When the police questioned Tharoor's domestic help Narain Singh, he revealed that there used to be constant fights between Tharoor and Pushkar for over a year before her death. Narain also mentioned that someone called Katy was often addressed to.
