Google Nexus 6 aka X Release Date, Specifications, Price Details: What we Know so FarGoogle Play Store India

Google Inc. unveiled its much-hyped Nexus 6 along with the Nexus 9 and Android 5.0 Lollipop on 15 October and pre-order for the device has begun but its release date is not revealed yet. Several reports suggested that it would hit the stores on 8 November but nothing is confirmed. Surprisingly, many gadget lovers seem to prefer the Nexus 5 with better specifications to the bigger Nexus 6.

A survey conducted by AndroidPit on its readers found out that most participants are ready to pay more for a re-released Nexus 5 with updated specifications and most of them are not happy with the current Nexus 6 and Nexus 5.

According to the survey, 6% of the respondents thinks the Nexus 6 - bigger is better; the old Nexus 5 still works for me got 18% vote; Nexus 5 (2014) with better CPU, GPU and RAM only, same price got 20%; Nexus 5 (2014) but with better battery and camera too, even if it cost more got 24%; full Nexus 6 specs in a Nexus 5 body got 19%; Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 as it stands got 1%; and the old Nexus 5 just needs a price cut received 12%.

Going by the survey, most gadget lovers seem to still like the Nexus 5, as a chunk of participants are ready to pay more for the device if its battery and camera are upgraded. Interestingly, the size of the Nexus 6 also seems to have failed to impress fans of the Nexus series, as lots of them want to see the Nexus 5 with specifications of its successor.

The fact is that the recently unveiled Nexus 6 is different from its predecessor in many ways and some may argue that it's not fair to compare the two devices. The price difference between the two devices is huge besides features and screen size. The 16GB variant of Nexus 5 is priced at just $350 and the 16GB variant at $400, while the 32GB Nexus 6 is priced at $649 and $699 for the 64GB variant.

The Nexus 5 is still going strong despite completing one-year cycle and Google hasn't cut its price though the Nexus 6 is being unveiled. The device sports a 4.95-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels (445 ppi pixel density), powered by Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and runs on Android OS v4.4 KitKat (upgradable to Android 5.0 Lollipop). It has 16/32 GB internal memory and 2GB RAM, Li-Po 2300 mAh battery, and an 8MP camera.

On the other hand, the Nexus 6 sports a 5.96-inch QHD with 2560x1440 pixels (493 ppi pixels per inch), powered by 805 series Snapdragon CPU and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It comes packed with 32/64GB storage capacity and 3GB RAM and a 13MP main camera with Dual-LED flash, f2.0 aperture, 4K video recording, and 2MP front camera with HD video conferencing feature. The device also houses a 3220 mAh battery with talk time up to 24 hours, standby time close to 250 hours (with ambient display on) and 330 hours (with ambient display off).
