Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM which is co-owned by Bajaj Auto is reportedly planning to launch 2017 Duke 200 in India mid-next year. The 200cc version of the Duke was not revealed at the EICMA show in Milan in the beginning of this month. However, the company website later updated information and pictures of the popular Duke variant.

Post the launch 2017 KTM 390 Duke in India in January, 200 Duke will enter market in mid-2017, reports Gaadiwaadi. The company has increased the beastly design of the 200 Duke in the latest avatar in line with the new 390 Duke. One of the disappointing bits in the new 200 Duke is that it will not feature split headlamps similar to its elder sibling. Instead, it will get a restyled bottom-protruding headlight design with LED inserts. The rest of the motorcycle has been given an edgy design. Visually, the new 200 Duke is a step up from the dated design, and has more contemporary looks inspired from the bigger sibling, the 1290 Super Duke.

The fuel tank in the 200 Duke has been reworked and tank extensions are longer than before. The key slot has been moved from the instrument cluster to the front of fuel tank. At the rear, the pillion grab rail has been moved to the front. It is now integrated and is just behind the rider's seat. The new 200 Duke also features a full-size exhaust, ditching the underbelly exhaust.

New 200 Duke is powered by a 199.5cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC engine that produces 26hp of power which is slightly better than the current 200 Duke. The mill is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The 200 Duke is based on a lightweight steel trellis frame and suspension duties are taken care by 43mm telescopic fork at the front and a swing-arm at the rear.

Current KTM 200 Duke is priced at Rs. 1.43 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi. New version will be slightly pricier and we expect it in the range of Rs 1.45 lakh and Rs 1.55 lakh.
