A recent report of AutoCar India, citing industry sources claimed that the launch of Honda Jazz has been postponed to June due to issues in production with the existing models. Earlier reports had said that Honda Jazz would reach Indian showrooms by March.

Jazz, which was once part of Honda India portfolio, failed to fetch enough sales volumes as expected by the company because of its high price tag.

Now when it is coming in its new avatar, Honda Jazz hatchback is expected to get an aggressive price tag to compete against segment front runners like Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20.

Auto lovers in the country have already seen Jazz in its different avatars, with the latest one straight out of the 85th Geneva Motor Show, 2015.

Underaneath the skin, expect the new Honda Jazz to pack the same 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers Amaze and Brio, which can generate a power of 87bhp, with a torque of 110Nm at 4,800rpm, and the diesel Jazz is expected to draw power from a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor that can pump 100PS of power and 200Nm torque.

The Jazz, which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show, is 95mm longer and has a 30 mm longer wheelbase than the older model, and comes with features like seven-inch "Honda Connect" infotainment touchscreen system that runs on Android Auto and offers MirrorLink, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI and USB.

In India, the new 2015 Jazz is likely to be offered in five variants ― EMT, SMT, SVMT, VMT and VXMT and is expected to fall in the price range of ₹5 lakh to ₹8 lakh.
